During the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League, Riyan Parag produced a brilliant effort in the field to catch Virat Kohli short of his crease while RCB were chasing down the total of 150.
Virat Kohli and co restricted Rajasthan to 149/9 after their opening duo had a flying start to the innings. Soon after the openers were dismissed, wickets starting falling in quick succession and Rajasthan fell short of their desired total.
While chasing down the total of 150, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal got RCB to a flying start. They made full use of the powerplay restrictions before Mustafizur Rahman bowled Padikkal who scored 22 off 17. They scored 48 runs for the first wicket as Padikkal was removed in the 2nd ball of the final over of the powerplay. But Kohli continued to score runs despite losing the wicket of in-form opener Devdutt Padikkal.
The incident took place in the 7th over of the game when Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson brought Chris Morris back into the attack. Kohli tried to tap a run towards the point in the penultimate ball of the over. But Riyan Parag did well and dived to his left side to stop the ball. Parag failed to collect the ball in one go which made Kohli run for a quick single. But Parag was quick enough to get on his feet hit the ball straight towards the non-striker’s end. Kohli hesitated to take the run in the first instance. Riyan Parag direct hit sent the on-field umpire for a check. The third umpire made his decision which was ‘OUT’.
