RR have hav won the toss and opted to bowl against KKR
Shubman Gill scored a fantastic 40-ball half-century while Karthik and Morgan played commendable cameos as Kolkata Knight Riders posted the highest team total this season in Sharjah – 171/4 in 20 overs – against Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals in match no. 54 in Sharjah.
Gill top-scored with 56 off 44 balls, including 2 sixes and 4 boundaries, while Venkatesh Iyer scored a 35-ball 38. Tripathi played a fine knock of 21 runs. For RR, the likes of Morris, Sakaraiya, Tewati and Phillips bagged a wicket each.
KKR would be delighted with the total of 171/4. They only made 36 in the powerplay, so to get all these runs on a sluggish track despite the fielding restrictions is why KKR have been so close to playoffs. RR lost their bowling discipline somewhere in the middle and now have a mountain to climb.
Chasing is never easy in Sharjah and it will be fairly confident with the bowling attack with the likes of narine and Chakravarthy.
Jaiswal opts for a risky reverse-sweep first-up but Shakib zips through to beat the blade and smash the stumps.
Great start for Kolkata Knight Riders and Shakib Al Hasan. A three-ball duck for Yashasvi Jaiswal.Very poor shot from young batsmen in crucial must win encounter.
