Delhi capitals opted to bowl against Mumbai Indians in Match 46 of 14th edition of Indian Premier League at Sharjah.
Having already sealed a playoff spot, the Delhi capitals made one change to their XI, with a fit-again Prthvi Shaw coming in place of off-spinner Lalit Yadav.
The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians also made one change to their lineup with off-spinner Jayant Yadav replacing their out-of-form leg spinner Rahul Chahar.
Mumbai Indians set a 130-run target for Delhi Capitals. Don’t assume that it will be an easy run-chase for DC as they have struggled batting in slowish pitches.
Avesh takes 3/15 to put Delhi on top and Axar Patel too took 3 wickets as Krunal holds key as MI target 130.
It was a cracking delivery and Khan gets rid of the dangerous man. There was nothing that Hardik Pandya could do about that. Khan runs in and spears a laser-guided yorker, around middle and leg, at 141.3 clicks. Hardik Pandya looks to whip it but he misses. He hears the death rattle behind him. Khan gets his second of the game and starts his last over very well!
Mumbai can now qualify without relying on other teams; all it has to do now is win its final three games. Sixteen points will secure them a playoff berth, since the Knight Riders can only attain 14 points now.
However, If Mumbai loses to the Capitals, things could get tricky for them, since both the Kolkata and the Punjab have better net run rates, and all three teams are now on 10 points. Mumbai may lose out if qualification is determined only on the basis of net run rate.
Mumbai Indians need to win their remaining three league matches against Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad over the next seven days to make it to the playoffs.
